9-day itinerary exploring charming cities such as Madrid, Montserrat, one of the main landmarks of Catalonia, and Barcelona!
DAY 1: Madrid
Arrival in Madrid and private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.
In the afternoon, a private half-day gastronomic tour with a guide in Spanish, through the classic bars, taverns and inns that define the essence of Madrid. Visit to three historic places, and in each of them, it includes tasting a drink paired with a tapa (a typical Spanish snack).
DAY 2: MADRID
Breakfast at the hotel, departure for a private half-day tour, with a guide in Spanish, through the oldest neighborhoods of the city.
Visit the 10th century Arabian Wall and visit the monuments left by the Habsburg and Bourbon dynasties, which include old hospitals, palaces, theaters, narrow medieval streets and traditional shops.
Continuation with a visit to the Sun Gate, the street and the Plaza Mayor, with 400 years of history, the Royal Palace of Madrid, the elegant Plaza de Oriente, the Royal Opera, which recently celebrated its 200th anniversary, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria a Real de Almudena. Including admission to the Royal Palace of Madrid, the largest in all of Western Europe, with visits to the official reception rooms, the museum area, the Royal Chapel, the Throne Room and the private rooms of King Carlos III and Queen Isabel II. In the
evening, dinner with a tasting menu, accompanied by wine and water, followed by a Flamenco dance show at the Corral de la Morería, where some of the best professionals performed, most notably Pastora Imperio, La Chunga, María Albaicín, El Güito, Mario Maya, Manuela Vargas, Lucero Tena, Isabel Pantoja, Antonio Gades and Blanca del Rey.
DAY 3: MADRID - Toledo - Madrid
After breakfast at the hotel. Trip of about 1 hour, for a private half-day tour of Toledo.
Toledo is a historic city in Spain, located about 70 km from Madrid. Known as the “City of Three Cultures,” it houses a rich Christian, Jewish, and Muslim heritage. It stands out for the Alcázar de Toledo, the Toledo Cathedral and its charming medieval streets. In 1986, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to its architecture, Toledo is famous for its artisanal traditions, especially the manufacture of swords and damasks.
Entrance to the Toledo Cathedral, considered the best expression of Gothic art in Spain and which began in 1226, but was only completed in 1493 by the Catholic Monarchs.
Then, visit the Palace of Justice, the City Hall and the old Jewish quarter, with its narrow streets. The tour also includes tickets to the old Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, which remains a symbol of the coexistence of the “Three Cultures” and the Church of São Tomé, which houses the famous painting by El Greco “The Burial of Count Orgaz”.
Finally, visit some centers and witness local artisans working the steel to transform it into swords, helmets, and many other items.
Return to the hotel in Madrid.
DAY 4: MADRID - Barcelona
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel, departure by private transfer to Madrid station for boarding a train to Barcelona, on a journey of about 3 hours.
Arrival and private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.
In the afternoon, half-day private walking tour with a guide in Spanish with visits to Plaça de Sant Jaume, Plaça del Rei, the ancient power center of medieval Catalonia, the Jewish quarter, known as El Call, and the Roman Walls, where are the most important remains of that period that have survived to this day. The tour includes admission to the Barcelona Cathedral, one of the best examples of the city's Gothic architecture, built from the 13th century on the remains of the previous Gothic cathedral, with admission to the
14th century Crypt of the Basilica of Santa Eulalia. DAY 5: BARCELONA
Breakfast at the hotel, half-day tour, with guide in Spanish to the famous La Boqueria market. A specialized chef will share tips on how to choose local and seasonal products, in addition to learning how to obtain the best and freshest ingredients.
Then, cooking class to learn how to prepare typical basic dishes, master techniques and the best of Spanish cuisine.
In the afternoon, private half-day tour, with a guide in Spanish, to explore the works of the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, which include 7 works listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. It includes entries to the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction for over 100 years, and to the Casa Milà (La Pedrera), built between 1905 and 1907 and located on Passeig de Gràcia.
DAY 6: BARCELONA - Montserrat - Penedès - Barcelona
Breakfast at the hotel, departure for a private half-day tour with a guide in Spanish to Montserrat, one of the main landmarks in Catalonia.
Visit the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park; the Abbey complex and the Benedictine Basilica, the famous Escolania and the Black Virgin of Montserrat, an icon of Catalonia and with the opportunity to enjoy a choir dating from the 13th century, one of the oldest in Europe.
Continuation of the trip to Penedès, a region famous for the quality of its wines and for the “Qualified Denomination of Origin” better known for sparkling wine or “cava”.
Then lunch, with local wines, at a traditional restaurant, followed by a visit to a winery to taste different varieties of wines and the famous local Cava.
At the end of the day, a private boat tour lasting approximately 3 hours, to get the perspective of Barcelona from the sea and enjoy the city's lights and its most representative icons: the Olympic Port, La Barceloneta Beach, the Maremagnum, the Columbus Monument or the World Trade Center. While sailing, it is possible to enjoy pre-selected drinks, snacks and to learn basic navigation maneuvers and, if the weather allows, to dive into the Mediterranean Sea.
DAY 7: Barcelona - Girona - Pals - Calella de Palafruhell - Costa Brava
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel, private transfer to the Costa Brava, including stops in Girona, a multicultural city with narrow streets in the old part, Pals, a beautiful medieval village, and Callela de Palafrugell to enjoy its whitewashed houses and the charm of the population or, alternatively, a visit to the Cap Gardens Roig.
The journey includes lunch at a restaurant, with selected wines.
Arrival at the hotel in Costa Brava, and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Costa Brava is a coastal region in Catalonia, Spain, known for its beaches and picturesque villages. It's a popular destination for tourists seeking sun, sea, and local culture.
DAY 8: COSTA BRAVA
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for independent activities.
DAY 9: COSTA BRAVA - Barcelona
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private transfer of about 2 hours to Barcelona airport.
