Discover the Caucasus in 8 days: Armenia and Georgia with monasteries, temples, lakes and historic cities, in a unique cultural group experience.
Day 1 (Saturday): Yerevan (Armenia)
Arrival in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation for 4 nights, with breakfast.
Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is renowned for its museums, squares, and historic monuments. The city combines Soviet and Armenian influences and is an important political and cultural center of the country.
DAY 2 (Sunday): YEREVAN
After breakfast, regular half-day tour of the city center, with a guide in Spanish.
The tour includes a visit to Republic Square, the Waterfall, the Cafesjian Contemporary Art Center, Abovyan Street, the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, the Memorial Park, the Museum of the Victims of the Genocide and the Vernisaje flea market.
Then free time in Yerevan.
Return to the hotel and the rest of the day free for independent activities (not included).
DAY 3 (Monday): YEREVAN - GEGHARD - GARNÍ - YEREVAN
Breakfast at the hotel and trip, with a guide in Spanish, to the Kotoyak region, to visit the Geghard monastery, one of the most mysterious and partially excavated in an adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. At the monastery, possibility to attend a vocal concert.
Then, visit the Garni Pagan Temple, the only preserved pagan temple in the territory of the former Soviet Union, where Roman-style bathing can be observed.
Return to the hotel in Yerevan.
DAY 4 (Tuesday): YEREVAN - ECHMIADZIN - ZVARTNOTS - YEREVAN
After breakfast, regular visit with a guide in Spanish to the Echmiadzin Monastery, built in 303, the spiritual center of the Armenians, residence of the Catholic church and the first Christian church in the world, with the opportunity to learn about the early years of Armenian Christian history and attend mass in the mother church.
Then, visit the ruins of the Zvarnots Cathedral, representing an extraordinary work of Armenian church architecture.
Return to the hotel in Yerevan.
Day 5 (Wednesday): YEREVAN - SEVÁN - DILIJAN - Sadakhlo - TBILISI (Armenia - Georgia)
After breakfast, regular transfer to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
While traveling between cities, visit Lake Seván, the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region and one of the highest lakes in the world, and the city of Dilijan, known as “Armenian Switzerland”, with its vegetation, forests and landscapes.
Stop at the Sadakhlo border crossing with Georgia for immigration procedures. Continuation of the trip to Tbilisi for accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.
DAY 6 (Thursday): Tbilisi
Breakfast at the hotel and regular full-day tour of the city of Tbilisi, with guide in Spanish. Founded in the 5th century, the city is a cultural mix with different nationalities. The city, which was dominated by merchants, warriors, tyrants, and dictators, is today a modern city, with museums and theaters, art galleries, churches, archaeological excavations, and sulfur baths.
Sights expected to be visited:
- Old City: historic center of the city with narrow streets and typical architecture.
- Rustaveli Avenue: famous for its buildings and cultural life.
- Metekhi Church: built by order of King Demeter, with panoramic views of the old city and the modern park.
- Narikala Fortress: the city's main citadel, overlooking the entire old part of Tbilisi.
- Abanotubani neighborhood: place that gave rise to the legend about the founding of the city.
- Sioni Cathedral: symbol of the city, it houses the cross of Saint Nino.
- Anchiskhati Basilica and its bell tower: one of the oldest churches in the city.
Suggested optional activities (not included):
- Visit to the National Museum of Georgia;
- Visit to the Tbilisi Open Air Ethnographic Museum (Giorgi Chitaia);
- Visit to the National Gallery of Georgia.
DAY 7 (Friday): TBILISI - UPLISTSIKHE - GORI - MTSKHETA - TBILISI Breakfast at the hotel.
Regular full-day tour of Uplistsikhe, Gori and Mtskheta, with a guide in Spanish.
The tour begins with a visit to Uplistsikhe, an ancient open-air cave city located at the intersection of important trade routes.
Then, visit the Stalin Museum in Gori, with an exhibition of works depicting the life of the leader of the Soviet Union, including the train car used during the Second World War and historical photographs.
Continuation with a visit to the Jvari Church, a work from the early medieval period, and to the Svetitskhoveli Church, the main church in Mtskheta, where, according to local belief, the mantle of Christ is found.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 8 (Saturday): TBILISI (Georgia)
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Regular transfer to Tbilisi airport.
