Self-Drive with Safari, Garden Route & Cape Town

DAY 1: PORT ELIZABETH - ANIMAL RESERVE
Arriving in Port Elizabeth, pick up by automatic car from the rental company and drive for about 1 hour (75 km) to the chosen safari reserve.

Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After lunch, the first safari will take place in an open 4×4 vehicle. Return to the lodge for dinner.


DAY 2: ANIMAL RESERVE
The first safari takes place around 6 in the morning. The rangers provide information about the animals and their customs, allowing a stop to enjoy the sunrise.

Return to the lodge around 9am for breakfast. Rest of the morning and early afternoon free to enjoy the pool, optional activities, or rest and relax.

Around 16:00, departure for the safari until nightfall. Return to the lodge.


DAY 3: ANIMAL RESERVE - PORT ELIZABETH - KNYSNA
Safari early in the morning and return to the lodge for breakfast. Check out and transfer to the hotel in Knysna. Drive for about 4 hours and 30 minutes (330 km) to the hotel in Knysna.

If you are interested, it is possible to stop at Jeffreys Bay for lunch and a tour of the city, which is known as a surfer's paradise. It's also a great place to shop at the factory stores of surf brands.

Arrival in Knysna and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.


DAY 4: KNYSNA
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to enjoy the region, the beaches, play sports and experience high doses of adrenaline.

The most adventurous can try the highest commercial bungee jump in the world, 216 meters above the ground, on the Bloukrans River bridge, on the border between Western Cape and Eastern Cape (optional, not included).

For those who want something more relaxed, the suggestion is a walk along the Robberg Peninsula and lunch at a restaurant by the sea. Here are two large sandstone cliffs that guard the mouth of the lagoon. It is possible to take a beautiful boat trip at sunset.

It is also possible to do tree climbing activities at the Tsitsikamma Canopy or visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve (optional, not included).


DAY 5: KNYSNA - OUDTSHOORN
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.

Driving for about 2 hours (120 km) by the traveler to the village of Oudtshoorn, located in the Klein Karoo, is one of the most interesting places for geological exploration in South Africa.

The city is also known for its ostrich farms and its local cuisine is highly appreciated for using the meat of this animal in its dishes. The region's highlight are the Cango Caves, a series of caves and cavities naturally carved from limestone. These caves are among the ten most visited tourist attractions in South Africa (optional, not included).

You can also visit an ostrich farm to learn about the characteristics and curiosities of these animals. Another option is the Wildlife Ranch, which offers encounters with cheetahs, crocodiles, tigers, and reptiles.

Arrival in Oudtshoorn and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.


DAY 6: OUDTSHOORN - HERMANUS
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.

Drive for about 4 hours (361 km) on your own to Hermanus.

Built along the beautiful shores and cliffs of Walker Bay, Hermanus has grown from a small seaside town to possibly the best-known place for whale watching in the world (between June and December). Today, this bustling city is more than a popular vacation destination and offers visitors all kinds of activities.

Here it can serve as a base for those who want to dive with white sharks in nearby Gansbaai. It is also possible to take a cruise to see whales, dolphins, seals, penguins, and white sharks. Each trip is led by experienced marine guides who share their knowledge, placing an emphasis on animal welfare and conservation (optional, not included).

Arrival in Hermanus and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.


DAY 7: HERMANUS - STELLENBOSCH
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.

Continuation of the trip to Stellenbosch, the region of fine wine and haute cuisine in South Africa, on a journey of about 1h20 (97km).

Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.


DAY 8: STELLENBOSCH
Breakfast at the hotel. Stellenbosch is the oldest city in South Africa, but its fame is due to the large concentration of wineries and the quality of the wines. That's why it's known as the cork city. Charming and organized, it mixes Victorian and German architecture and offers historical tours of its museums from the 17th to the mid-19th century. During a visit to the wineries, the recommendation is to taste Pinotage wine, produced exclusively in South Africa.

Optional activity suggestion (not included):

• A pleasant 2-hour guided electric bike ride through the wineries.

DAY 9: STELLENBOSCH - CAPE TOWN
Breakfast at the hotel.

Drive for about 35 minutes (53 km) to Cape Town and drop off the car at the rental store.

Cape Town is a small peninsula bathed by the Atlantic Ocean and, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is no accident that it is among the most sought after vacation destinations in the world and most recommended by tourism entities and international magazines.

With its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it combines African exoticism with the comfort and structure of first-world cities. The landscapes are breathtaking, with mountain scenery, beaches, wineries, and national parks. There is no shortage of sports, leisure and shopping options.

Accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.


Day 10: CAPE TOWN
Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day private tour of Cape Town, with a guide in Portuguese. This tour explores the city of Cape Town, with the opportunity to visit Table Mountain, one of the seven new wonders of the world, which offers spectacular views of the city and the bay (includes the ticket for the cable car to access Table Mountain, whose visit depends on the weather conditions on the day).

The tour passes through the Bo Kaap Malay neighborhood, with its colorful houses and picturesque mosques, and The Company's Garden, located in the center of the city of Cape Town, including a visit to the Castle of Good Hope and the National Museum of South Africa. Stop for lunch (not included).

In the afternoon, you can explore art galleries, clothing boutiques, and the city center. Passage through the city's main tourist attractions such as the Parliament, the main square The Grand Parade and the City Hall. Finally, stroll along the seaside promenade of Sea Point Promenade.

Return to the hotel.

Note: Table Mountain in Cape Town will be closed for maintenance between 28/07/2025 and 03/08/2025.


DAY 11: CAPE TOWN
Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day private tour to the Cape of Good Hope.

This tour allows you to take beautiful photographs and enjoy wonderful landscapes. The first stop is at Hout Bay, with the option of a ride to an island inhabited by a cape seal colony. Then stop at Chapman's Peak (weather permitting) to visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you have the opportunity to walk or take the cable car and climb up to the old lighthouse to enjoy the view of the famous False Bay. Then, drive to the city of Simon's Town, home of the South African Navy, including visiting the famous African penguin colony Boulder Beach.


DAY 12: CAPE TOWN
Breakfast at the hotel and private transfer to the airport.
