Fascinating Malta

Valletta, St Julian's

An immersion in Maltese culture! This itinerary provides a perfect balance between cultural activities and moments of relaxation to explore the best of Malta.

Day 1: VALETA
Arrival in Valletta and private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.

Valletta, the capital of Malta, was founded in the 16th century by the Knights of Saint John. The city is renowned for its baroque architecture, its fortifications and its narrow cobblestone streets, with a cultural richness.

DAY 2: Valletta
After breakfast, private half-day tour of the city of Valletta, with an English-speaking guide.

During the tour, explore Valletta's charming, narrow streets, passing by St. John's Cathedral (closed on Sundays), the “City Gates”, the Triton Fountain, the Parliament building, bustling Republic Street, St. George's Square, and the Court of Justice building. Opportunity to visit the interior of the Manoel Theater (closed on Wednesdays), one of the oldest operating theaters in Europe.

Next, visit the Church of Saint John, a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, whose interior is recognized as one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Europe.

In the afternoon, semi-private visit to the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, a prehistoric underground temple, composed of rock chambers interconnected on three distinct levels, located in the south-east of Malta.

Return to the hotel.

DAY 3: Valletta - Birgu - Valetta
Breakfast at the hotel and private half-day tour to Birgu, with an English-speaking guide. Birgu also known as “Città Vittoriosa” (Victorious City), an ancient fortified city located south of the Grand Harbour, in the southeastern region of Malta.

Then, visit the War Museum, located in an 18th century army barracks, which served as a police station and a precautionary center against air raids during World War II.

After the visit, return to the hotel in Valletta and free afternoon for independent activities.

4TH DAY: VALLETTA - RABAT - MDINA - ST. JULIAN'S
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure to the Blue Grotto, an incredible rock formation with an impressive arch about 30 meters high.

Then continue to the Dingli cliffs, the highest point of the Maltese Islands, 253 meters above sea level. The cliffs offer stunning views of the small terraced fields below, the open sea, and Filfla, the small uninhabited island on the other side of the island.

Stop for lunch (without drinks).

Visit the Catacombs of St. Paul, located on the outskirts of the ancient Roman capital Melite, now Mdina. St. Paul's Catacombs are considered unique because they house Christian, Jewish, and Muslim burials. Continuation of the visit to St. Paul's Cave, considered the cradle of Christianity in Malta. Opportunity to explore the World War II shelters located below the church, comprising 50 rooms where approximately 350 people took refuge during air raids.
