Destination Botswana

Clear waters and huge amounts of small islands are home to an impressive array of Botswana's birds, plants, and animal species.
The Last African Eden
Bordering Namibia and Zimbabwe, Botswana has 70% of its territory comprised of the Kalahari desert. At the heart of the country is an ecosystem like no other - the Okavango Delta, an imposing and vibrant river that gives life to felines, elephants, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and other animals that live side by side through the union of waters.
Botswana has a diverse fauna that includes species that inhabit deltas, deserts, grasslands, and savannas. The Mabeco, also known as the African wild dog, is an endangered species, but has the majority of its population in Chobe National Park. The park is also home to one of the largest populations of African elephants in the world.
Touristic spots
Chobe National Park
Affectionately known as “The Land of Giants,” Chobe National Park has gained fame for housing the largest elephant population in Africa. Surrounded by the Chobe River, to the southeast of the park are salt pans that house herds of blue wildebeest, several species of antelopes, and graceful flamingos.
Moremi Reserve
Moremi is a reserve where ecosystems come together. In the region there are a large number of wild species, birds and plants that form a diverse landscape, combining lagoons and acacia forests.
Such diversity makes the reserve home to endangered animals such as black and white rhinoceroses, cheetahs, wild African dogs, and lions. This animal richness, combined with species protection programs, makes Moremi recognized as one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences in Africa.
Okavango Delta
Compared to other areas of Botswana, the Okavango Delta has a small number of large animals, however, its clear waters and large number of islets bring together an impressive variety of birds, plants, and small animals.
Savuti Region
Ideal region to witness the migration of zebras. In addition to the migration, travelers can observe lions and leopards that accompany the migration, as well as elephants that gather around pools of water in Savuti.
Kalahari Desert
Much of Botswana's territory is covered by the Kalahari desert. Although the area is sparsely inhabited by humans, it is one of the richest regions in wildlife in all of Africa. Two of Botswana's largest parks, the Kalahari Game Central Reserve and Gemsbok National Park, are located in this region.
Best time to go to Botswana
The winter period (May to September) is recommended by the pleasant climate. During summer (November to March) the rains are more intense and can impair road traffic. In addition, animals tend to disperse when there is plenty of water.
The weather is sunny from June to August, with mild temperatures during the day and cool at night.
