Destination United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi)

Desert territories with oases, bathed by the blue waters of the Persian Gulf, shaped by cosmopolitan lifestyle and futuristic cities: Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Discover the United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is an Arab country located on the Persian Gulf. Formed by a confederation of Arab monarchies, each holding its sovereignty, called emirates (equivalent to principalities), the United Arab Emirates is located in the south-east of the Arabian Peninsula and borders Oman and Saudi Arabia. The seven emirates are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah.

Touristic spots

Abu Dhabi

Capital of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the largest of the federation's seven emirates, is becoming the most important cultural city in the Emirates. From the famous Corniche Avenue to the oasis city of Al Ain and the enormous desert dunes of western Al Gharbia, culture, history, and adventure are gathered in the emirate. The architectural prowess of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is impressive; the peace and quiet of a tour of the Al Ain oasis with its ancient irrigation system is astounding; and the emirate's history told through its historic sites and ancient forts, several of which are listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, are sure to marvel at.

Year-round sunshine, beaches, spectacular sand dunes and cosmopolitan lifestyle: that's the Emirate Abu Dhabi, an enchanting destination for experienced and novice travelers alike.

Dubai

Dubai, the tourism capital of the United Arab Emirates, is the most populous of the seven Emirates, with over 2 million inhabitants. The territory is desert and dotted with oases, with mountainous regions and beautiful beaches. A completely safe city where tourists are always well received.

Bathed by the blue waters of the Gulf, it is a futuristic city, with large avenues, modern buildings and business centers, as well as many tourist attractions. Also known as the “Pearl of the Arabian Gulf”, Dubai has the highest standard of living in the world, with luxurious hotels, cultural, sports and leisure facilities.

Its traditions are based on the religion of Arab Islam, only 10% of the population is of Emirates nationality, and this explains the various cultures found in the country.

What to do in Dubai

  • Burj Al Arab - It has become a symbol of Dubai. One of the region's tourist landmarks, it established new standards of excellence in Arab hospitality.
  • Gold Souk - Dubai's famous market, which fills the streets with beautiful storefronts, is one of the best places to shop for gold.
  • Dubai Creek - Stream that divides the city into two districts: Deira, to the north, and Bur Dubai, to the south. Here it is possible to take a cruise with a romantic dinner on a “dhow” (Arab sailing boats) or simply ride on an “abra” (traditional wooden boat). At the end of the stream, there is a bird reserve that bears the name of “Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary”.
  • Expo 2020 Dubai - With the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, Expo 2020 is based on the idea that innovation and progress result from the convergence of people and ideas in unique and original ways. Participating nations will present their innovations, achievements and ambitions at Expo 2020, exploring the three sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. Cancelled in 2020, the Expo will take place in Dubai from October 2021 to March 2022.
