Touristic spots
Istanbul
A mandatory stop on your visit to the country, it is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Cut in half by the Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul extends for 30 km and connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, separating Asia from Europe: on the European side, there is the center of commerce and business, while on the Asian side, there are the residences. Cosmopolitan and modern, this important business city mixes the new and the old, with breathtaking views. Bathed by the navy blue waters of the Bosphorus, it certainly has the most beautiful sunset you can see. Istanbul, too, is home to important visitor sites for their impressive architecture, such as the imposing Hagia Sofia (pronounced “Aya Sofya”) or Hagia Sophia; the Blue Mosques and Suleymaniye Mosques; palaces and others.
Cappadocia
Another tourist highlight in the Central Turkish region is Cappadocia, a region of unique geological nature, where you can see the curious long-line rock formations known as Fairy Chimneys. It is in Cappadocia that the “Open Air Museum” is located, a space where the best works of art are concentrated. There are several old chapels and other rooms of a huge monastery that is different from the usual one. Everything was hewn into the rock: rooms that were used as refectories, dormitories and, of course, churches from the various stages of their existence.
Pamukkale
Located in the Denizli area, Pamukkale is one of the most attractive tourist spots in this country. The great attraction is the immensity of the white cliff with sculpted basins filled with water, like frozen waterfalls that seem to be made of snow, cloud, cotton. Pamukkale is a mountain covered by white limestone rock, which for millions of years has been sculpted by the grooves of water that flow there and which have given it a unique aspect of rare beauty. The thermal waters spring from the ground at 35 degrees and form turquoise pools that, combined with the brightness of the travertine in the sunlight, create an enchanted place. This magical sight, of various sizes, which are in the form of a waterfall on the small hill, was precisely named Pamukkale, which in Turkish means Cotton Castle.
Ephesus
It can be said that Ephesus is one of the largest, most beautiful, and best preserved ancient cities in the world. There are two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: the ruins of the Mausoleum of Maussollos, in Bodrum, and what remains of the Temple of Artemis, the Roman goddess of fertility - in addition to other archaeological and natural beauty. It is believed, however, that Turkey's best-kept secret is hidden along the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas, in Kusadasi. A coastal region known as the Turkish Riviera, breathes charm, glamor and a lot of charm. Due to the indisputable beauty of the rocks sculpted in front of the sea and the paradisiacal waters, of intense blue, it was also called the Turquoise Riviera. With 300 days of sunshine a year and thousands of kilometers of warm sand, the Turkish Riviera is the ideal place to experience days of pure relaxation.
Bodrum
Bodrum is a paradise with sea, natural beauty, magnificent coves and history. From the past to today, Bodrum is a tourist destination famous for its white houses, narrow streets leading to the sea, and modern and bustling nightlife.
Best time to go to Turkey
Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are the best seasons, as the weather will be perfect for sightseeing in Istanbul, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean coast, and it will be pleasant in Central Anatolia. Visiting before mid-June or after August can also help prevent mosquitoes. For those who want to enjoy the beaches, mid-May to September is perfect for the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean coast. The Black Sea coast is most visited between April and September — it will still rain, but not as much. Traveling to eastern Turkey from late June to September is recommended, but not before May or after mid-October, unless you are prepared for snow, road closures, and very low temperatures.
