New Year's Eve in Northwest Argentina
Purmamarca, Salta, Cafayate
Journey through northwestern Argentina, with visits to villages, salt mines and wineries, cultural experiences and New Year's Eve celebration in Cafayate.
Day 1 (26/12/2026 - SATURDAY): PURMAMARCA Arrival at Salta airport and
private transfer to Purmamarca. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Purmamarca is a small town in northwestern Argentina, located in the province of Jujuy. Known for its landscapes and dirt streets, for its adobe buildings and craft fairs, it preserves authentic local traditions and stands out as a gateway to the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
DAY 2 (27/12/2026 - SUNDAY): PURMAMARCA
After breakfast at the hotel, departure for a private half-day tour accompanied by the driver/guide in Spanish, visiting villages in Quebrada de Humahuaca, a valley of multicolored mountains and communities that preserve the region's pre-Columbian and colonial legacy.
Visit Pucará de Tilcara, a pre-Hispanic fortress, and Huacalera, a city crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn, with a stop at a colonial church.
Then, visit Uquía, a village that presents paintings of archabuzier angels, a collection that portrays angels dressed as aristocrats and armed with arcabuzes. Journey to Humahuaca, a town in Quebrada, with observation of the Andean traditions present in the region.
The tour includes a stop at Bodega Yacoraite for a harmonized lunch.
Return to the hotel and free afternoon for independent activities.
DAY 3 (28/12/2026 - MONDAY): PURMAMARCA - SALINAS GRANDES - SALTA
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, travel to Salinas Grandes, a salt desert located about 3,400 meters above sea level.
The salt flats are accessed via the Cuesta de Lipán road, which crosses the Andean region and offers panoramic views of the mountains and the salt desert along the way.
In the Salinas Grandes, there is time for exploration, hiking, and landscape observation, with a contrast between the white salt, the sky, and the surrounding mountains.
In the afternoon, private transfer to the city of Salta. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
4TH DAY A (29/12/2026 - TUESDAY): SKIP
Breakfast at the hotel. Half-day private tour, accompanied by the driver/guide in Spanish, through the main points of the city of Salta.
Founded in 1582, the city features distinct Hispanic architecture, with houses, streets, and monuments preserving the colonial spirit amidst the mountains.
At the end of the panoramic route, visit the High Mountain Archaeological Museum, which houses the “Sons of Llullaillaco”, three Inca children who lived over 500 years ago and were found frozen, in excellent condition, at the top of the Llullaillaco volcano. An important archaeological find.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 5 (30/12/2026 - WEDNESDAY): SALTA - CAFAYATE
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure to Cafayate, covering about 180 km, passing through Cerrillos, El Carril, Coronel Moldes, Ampascachi and Alemanía, especially the crossing through the Quebrada del Río Las Conchas, considered a Natural Monument by UNESCO and characterized by rock formations such as the Devil's Throat and the Amphitheater.
In the middle of the day, a visit to the Piatelli Winery is scheduled, with a harmonized lunch in an environment inspired by Tuscan wineries, combining architecture, landscapes and cuisine.
In the afternoon, visit the El Esteco Winery, whose colonial-style building is surrounded by old vineyards. The place has modern wine production facilities, where it is possible to visit the structures and have tastings.
Accommodation in Cafayate for 3 nights, with breakfast.
6TH DAY (31/12/2026 - THURSDAY) AND 7TH DAY (01/01/2027 - FRIDAY): CAFAYATE Breakfast at the hotel.
Free days for independent activities to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
DAY 8 (02/01/2027 - SATURDAY): CAFAYATE - SALTA
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private transfer to Salta, with a stop for a guided walk through Quebrada de las Conchas, Cafayate's multicolored geological formation.
Accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
DAY 9 (03/01/2027 - SUNDAY): SKIP
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private airport transfer.
