DAY 1: HONOLULU Upon arrival
in the city of Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, pick up the rental car and drive yourself to the hotel. Accommodation for 3 nights.
DAY 2: HONOLULU Free
day for independent activities.
Optional activity suggestion (not included):
- Drive along the east coast of Oahu to see Diamond Head; Kahala, the “Beverly Hills of Hawaii”; Hanauma Bay; Waimanalo and the Nuuanu Pali viewpoint. Or stop at Sea Life Park for a first impression of the fabulous variety of colorful fish, dolphins, seals, sharks and whales typical of this region.
DAY 3: HONOLULU Free
day for independent activities.
Optional activity suggestion (not included):
- Drive around the northern part of the island, stopping at the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. During this historic tour, it is possible to board the USS Missouri, the battleship on which the treaty ending World War II was signed. Continuing through the center of the island, a suggested spot is the Polynesian Cultural Center, the largest Polynesian historical exhibition in the world.
DAY 4: HONOLULU/LIHUE
After checking out at the hotel, drive yourself to Honolulu airport to return the car and board it to the city of Lihue (flight not included), on Kauai Island. After picking up the car in Lihue, drive to the hotel for accommodation for 2 nights.
Optional activity suggestion (not included):
- Brief passage along the north coast. The sunset at Hanalei Bay in Princeville is unforgettable.
DAY 5: LIHUE Free
day for independent activities.
Suggested optional activities (not included):
- A helicopter ride around the island to the Na Pali coast. This coast is inaccessible by car and is certainly one of the island's must-see spots.
- Drive down the south coast to Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” with a half-day tour of the Wailua River to see the Fern Grotto.
DAY 6: LIHUE/KAILUA-KONA
After checking out at the hotel, drive on your own to Kauai airport to return the car and board it to the city of Kailua-Kona (flight not included), on Hawaii Island. Upon arrival, pick up the rental car and drive yourself to the hotel. Accommodation for 3 nights.
Optional activity suggestion (not included):
- Drive to the fishing village of Kailua. It is possible to extend to City of Refuge, before dinner and check-in at the hotel.
DAY 7: KAILUA-KONA
Free day for independent activities.
Optional activity suggestion (not included):
- Full day tour taking the southern route to Hilo and enjoying Hawaii's Volcano National Park. Coffee and macadamia farms can be visited along the route. Or a visit to Hilo and maybe a stop at an orchid farm before taking the route north, off the coast of Hamakua. A stop in the city of Waimea is a must and the descent from Kailua to Kona highway offers the most scenic view on the west coast of Hawaii and Kailua.
DAY 8: KAILUA-KONA
Free day for independent activities.
Suggested optional activities (not included):
- Snorkel at Kealakekua Bay or an Atlantis Submarine tour;
- Deep-sea fishing activity;
- Scuba diving;
- To play golf;
- Go shopping.
DAY 9: KAILUA-KONA
Check-out at the hotel and drive to the airport to return the car.
