Cochin, Periyar, Kumarakom

Package trip to Kerala, in South India, a region famous for its backwaters, tea, spices, and Ayurveda.
Called “God's country”, Kerala has golden beaches, a unique ecosystem of backwaters, hills covered with tea gardens and spice plantations, waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries, colonial remnants, and a deep knowledge of Ayurveda.

DAY 1: COCHIN
Arrival in Cochin, reception by the local representative and private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Considered the commercial capital of Kerala, Cochin is considered the Queen of the Arabian Sea, due to its location on the sea route, well known for Vasco da Gama's explorations. Today, the city has one of the largest port regions in the world and has become a metropolis that combines history with the diversity of the state of Kerala.
DAY 2: COCHIN
After breakfast at the hotel, private tour with a guide in Spanish through the city and the Cochin Fortress neighborhood. Visit the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth and located in the region known for being an ancient Jewish community, which is also one of the spice trade centers in the region.
Continuation to the Mattancherry Palace, a Portuguese building from 1557 also known as the Dutch Palace. The palace has murals that adorn some of its rooms, depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranic legends related to Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna, Kumara, and Durga.
Stop at Saint Francis Church, the oldest European church built in India, in addition to discovering Chinese fishing nets, which are believed to have been taken by merchants from the court of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan.
Finally, a trip to the flashy Broadway & Ernakulam Market, which brings together the city's main clothing, spice, and jewelry stores, among others.
In the evening, transfer to a local theater to watch a Kathakali dance performance.
Note: The Paradesi Synagogue is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Jewish holidays. The Dutch Palace is closed on Fridays. The San Francisco Church is closed on Sundays. The Kathakali dance performance is subject to the operating period.
DAY 3: COCHIN
Breakfast at the hotel. Day off.
Suggested optional activity (not included):
- Hike along the historic Spice Trail, to discover local cuisine;
- Visit to the historic fishing village of Kumbalangi, including lunch (without drinks).
DAY 4: COCHIN - PERIYAR
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private ground transfer of approximately 4:30 hours to Periyar. Upon arrival, accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast.
Famous for Lake Periyar, the city also called Thekkady is known as the spice capital and famous for its mountainous landscapes, amidst the Western Ghates mountain range.
DAY 5: PERIYAR
Breakfast at the hotel. Periyar Lake boat ride, with access to Periyar National Park, also known as Periyar Wild Animal Sanctuary, to observe the great diversity of local flora and fauna. Among the animals, there are Alpine goats, langur monkeys, bison, deer, antelopes, as well as about 700 elephants and 40 tigers.
In the afternoon, visit a spice plantation. Return to the hotel.
DAY 6: PERIYAR - KUMARAKOM
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private transfer of approximately 4 hours to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.
DAY 7: KUMARAKOM
Breakfast at the hotel. Private land transfer to Alleppey (about 4 hours) and board a floating houseboat for a cruise along the delta's canals, including lunch on board (without drinks). The trip allows you to follow the customs of the riverside population and appreciate the diverse natural landscapes of South India.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 8: KUMARAKOM
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, to observe various bird species, in addition to the diverse local flora and fauna.
DAY 9: KUMARAKOM - COCHIN
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private ground transfer (about 2 hours) to Cochin airport.
