Pilgrimage to Jordan

Amman, Petra, Aqaba

Travel Package to explore Jordan's rich history and exotic landscapes on an unforgettable pilgrimage!

DAY 1: AMMAN
Arrival in Amman. Reception by the local representative and assistance with visa issuance. Private transfer to the hotel and accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast.

DAY 2: AMMAN - JERASH - UMM QAIS - AMMAN
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Jaboque River to remember the story of Jacob and the angel.

Continue to Jerash, an ancient city that has an uninterrupted chain of human occupation that dates back more than 6,500 years. It lies on a plain surrounded by wooded mountainous areas and fertile basins. The ruins are huge and impressive, especially: Hadrian's Arch, Hippodrome, Colonnade Street, Theaters and the Jerash Archaeological Museum, among others.

Journey north to the ancient Byzantine city of Umm Qais, mentioned in the Bible as Gadara, where the miracle of the pigs of Gadarene took place when Jesus was crossing the Sea of Galilee. Umm Qais is located on the border between Jordan, Israel and Syria. From there, it is possible to observe the Tiberian Sea, the Golan Heights, and the Yarmuk Gorge.

Return to the hotel in Amman.

DAY 3: AMMAN - BETHANY - DEAD SEA - AMMAN
After breakfast at the hotel, the day begins with a visit to the Anglican School for the Deaf, in the city of Salt. Time to visit some of the classrooms, with meeting with staff and students to learn about the work of this remarkable institution.

Continue to the Jordan Valley to visit the site of John the Baptist's baptism in Bethany. For nearly two millennia, the area that extends along the east bank of the Jordan River, at the height of Jericho, was known to be the place where Jesus Christ was baptized by John. But in 1996, archaeological discoveries identified the exact place where John was living and performing his baptisms as Bethany of the Beyond Jordan.

Travel to the Dead Sea, where there will be the opportunity to float in its therapeutic waters. The Dead Sea is over 400 meters below sea level. The lowest point on the face of the Earth, this vast expanse of water receives water from several rivers, including the Jordan River. Once the waters reach the Dead Sea and have nowhere to go, they then evaporate, leaving behind a dense and rich combination of salts and minerals that provide industry, agriculture, and medicine with some of their best products.

Upon return to Amman, city tour with a brief visit to the Citadel and the Roman Theater. Extremely sloping, the amphitheater has incredible acoustics and a capacity for around six thousand people.

DAY 4: AMMAN - MADABA - MOUNT NEBO - KARAK - PETRA
Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to Madaba. Among the city's highlights is the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George. On its floor, there is an extremely sharp 6th-century Byzantine mosaic map showing the Holy Land.

Visit to Mount Nebo, which has a wide view including: Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho, and Jerusalem.

Then travel to Karak to see the famous Crusader Fortress. The fort itself is a dark maze of vaulted stone corridors and endless passages.

Upon arrival in Petra, accommodation for 2 nights, including breakfast.

DAY 5: PETRA
Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to visit Petra, the cradle of the Nabataean people, was founded in 312 BC and became an important axis in the trade routes of silk caravans, incense and spices, which linked China and India to Greece, Rome, Egypt and Syria.

The city came under the sights of the Romans Pompey and Herod, but it only succumbed in about 130, when the emperor Hadrian conquered it. Some time later, with a strong earthquake, the Nabateans left her. Petra was abandoned and forgotten. Only the Bedouins knew how to find her in the desert. Until, in 1812, the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt, a lover of Muslim culture, impersonated an Arab merchant to gain the trust of the Bedouins. UNESCO describes Petra as a World Heritage Site.

Return to the hotel.

DAY 6: PETRA - WADI RUM - AQABA
Breakfast at
the hotel. Transfer to the Wadi Rum Desert, a stupendous and timeless place, practically untouched by humanity.

Also known as “the Moon Valley”, this is where Prince Faisal Bin Hussein built his base during the Arab revolt against the Ottomans in World War I, and his exploits are intrinsically woven into the history of this incredible area. Safari in a Jeep driven by Bedouins for about 2 hours in Wadi Rum before continuing the trip to Aqaba.

Upon arrival, accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.

With so many beautiful attractions, the Red Sea is often overlooked by current visitors. But aside from being a pleasant place, Aqaba is a great base for exploring various places of interest in southern Jordan.
