Day 1: SANTARÉM - ALTER DO CHÃO
Arrival at Santarém airport, reception by the local representative and private transfer to the hotel.
Accommodation for 6 nights in Alter do Chão, with breakfast.
Known as the Amazonian Caribbean, Alter do Chão offers paradisiacal scenery, several trails and hikes, and boat and canoe trips to catch a glimpse of a sunset descending on the river's skyline.
2nd day: ALTER DO CHÃO - GREEN LAKE - ENCHANTED FOREST - TAPAJÓS RIVER - ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, the tour of Lago Verde begins, known for its bays of great scenic beauty. Upon return, embark again to sail to Igapó do Macaco Bay, which has different characteristics depending on the time of year. Between March and August, the area is submerged, providing a unique landscape with the possibility of observing fish and birds. Between September and February, the region has creeks and crystal clear springs, ideal for a refreshing bath.
Lunch will be held at a restaurant in the Enchanted Forest (not included), followed by a brief rest in hammocks in the shade. Then you enter another flooded jungle area, the Enchanted Forest, characterized by medium-sized trees and an environment of unique silence and harmony. At the exit of Igapó, navigation continues along the Tapajós River to the community of Pindobal.
In the late afternoon, a tour takes place along the Tapajós River towards Ponta do Muretá or Ponta do Cururu, providing the contemplation of the sunset and the opportunity to spot the Tucuxi and Cor-de-Rosa dolphins.
Day 3: ALTER DO CHÃO - PONTA DE PEDRAS - PONTA DO JARI - PONTA DO CURURU - ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, navigation begins along the magnificent Tapajós River, crossing it in approximately two hours to Ponta do Jarí, a natural channel that connects the clear waters of Tapajós to the muddy waters of the Amazon. Ponta do Jarí is a flooded area that serves as a dormitory for parrots and herons, whose flight can be observed at dusk or dawn.
Depending on the time of year, it is possible to spot alligators. Along the way, stilt houses will be visited and gigantic royal victories observed. After a short rest, the navigation continues to the beaches of Pontas de Pedras, where lunch will be served included, and there will be an opportunity to bathe in the waters of the river. In the late afternoon, you can watch the sunset on Cururu Beach before returning to the hotel.
Day 4: ALTER DO CHÃO - JAMARAQUÁ COMMUNITY - ALTER DO CHÃO
The tour includes a visit to the community of Jamaraquá, located within the Tapajós National Forest. The community is part of a sustainable forest management project in the Amazon, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the use of natural resources by traditional riverine populations. Residents live by producing cassava flour, beans, and rice for their livelihood, while artisanal eco-leather represents a new source of income. During the visit, it is possible to follow the entire latex transformation process. Jamaraquá is one of the smallest communities in the Tapajós National Forest.
The itinerary also includes a walk through the Amazon jungle of primary forest, with two options of trails: the first, approximately 2:30 round trip, and the second, lasting about 4:30, among leafy trees over 30 meters high. Upon return, it is possible to go canoeing in igapés or creeks, ending the tour with the return to the hotel or inn.
5th day: ALTER DO CHÃO - PONTA GRANDE BEACH - COROCAS COMMUNITY - AMAZON KELONIANS - ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, the crossing begins along the Tapajós River to the Arapiuns River. The first stop is in the Urucureá community, made up of indigenous descendants, where it will be possible to learn about Tucumã straw braids, handicrafts and aspects of local culture.
Then, the tour includes stops for swimming on the white sandy beaches and clear waters of Ponta Grande, as well as a visit to Corocas, where you can learn about the creation of indigenous stingless bees and the projects for the preservation of Amazonian turtles. At the end of the afternoon, the return to Alter do Chão takes place on board the speedboat, taking advantage of the sunset during the journey.
6th day: ALTER DO CHÃO - SANTARÉM meeting of the waters - ALTER DO CHÃO
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for a tour, where it will be possible to visit the shopping center and the Santarém waterfront, exploring urban movement and local architecture. The itinerary also includes a tour of the historic center, especially the museum and the cathedral, and a stop at the viewpoint to contemplate the meeting of the waters. A visit to the Municipal Market 2000 allows you to discover the diversity of regional products and local handicrafts.
The tour also includes speedboat sailing between water encounters, with the opportunity to spot porpoises and various species of birds.
7th day: ALTER DO CHÃO - SANTARÉM
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. At an appropriate time, meet with the local representative to take a private transfer of about 1 hour to Santarém airport.
Season of the year: Alter do Chão has two well-defined seasons: one rainy and the other dry, and the scenarios are different depending on the season. During the storm, from August to January (Amazonian summer), it is ideal for visiting the river beaches formed by the bottom of the rivers and hiking on a wider variety of trails in the FLONA. The full season, from February to July (Amazonian winter), is ideal for canoe trips in the igapo (the Amazonian trees covered by rivers).
Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate. It's an easy trip for anyone, of any age, and in good health. This trip includes a circuit walk, lasting 3 to 4 hours in the forest with a slope of up to 100 meters in height. In addition, travelers must be able to board and disembark at careless access structures and be comfortable in an intense program.
