Treasures of Sri Lanka

Kotugoda, Anuradapura, Kandy, Hatton, Galle, Columbus

Sri Lanka itinerary with sacred temples, panoramic train through the tea mountains, local experiences, Galle Fort and Colombo, combining culture, spirituality and remarkable landscapes.

Day 1: COLOMBO - KOTUGODA
Arrival at Colombo airport, private transfer to the hotel (about 20 minutes). Accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.

The rest of the day is free for independent activities.


Day 2: KOTUGODA - ANURADAPURA
After breakfast and check-out, private transfer to Anuradapura (about 4 hours and 30 minutes).

Arrival and accommodation for 3 nights with breakfast.

In the evening, experience dinner (without drinks) at the Kamatha restaurant for tasting traditional dishes prepared in handmade clay pots and open bonfires that give a different flavor to the food.


Day 3: ANURADAPURA
Breakfast and departure for a private bike tour of the sacred city of Anuradhapura, exploring archaeological sites of the ancient kingdom among rice fields, local villages and advanced irrigation systems.

During the tour, picnic-style lunch stop (without drinks).

Visit to Abhayagiri Dagoba, the Elephant Tank (Eth Pokuna), the Basawakkulama Reservoir and the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree. Continue to Kaludiya Pokuna, a preserved forest area with archaeological remains, and return to the hotel.


Day 4: ANURADAPURA
Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning for independent activities.

Suggested optional activities (not included, pre-booking recommended):

  • Bike ride;
  • Jungle kayaking;
  • Archery;
  • Horseback riding.

In the afternoon, departure for a scenic drive to Lake Nachchaduwa, along rural roads between rice fields and local villages. The reservoir, surrounded by forests and hills, is home to several species, with the possibility of spotting birds, buffaloes and elephants.


Day 5: ANURADAPURA - MATALE - KANDY
Breakfast and hotel check-out. Then, departure by private transfer to Kandy, via Dambulla and Matale (about 3 hours and 30 minutes).

In Dambulla, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple (Dambulla Rock Temple), a sacred complex with five caves adorned with wall paintings and about 150 Buddha statues, one of the most important religious heritage sites in Sri Lanka.

After free time for lunch, guided tour of Kandy alongside a local host, including hiking around Lake Kandy and visiting the Tooth Temple (Sri Dalada Maligawa), which houses one of the most sacred Buddhist relics. The route also passes through city landmarks, such as the clock tower, the Ali Mudukkuwa shopping area, and the local market.

Continue to the hotel in Hanthana. Accommodation for 3 nights, with All inclusive.


DAY 6 AND 7: KANDY
Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel. Free days for independent activities.


DAY 8: KANDY - HATTON
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure to Peradeniya train station to board a train bound for Hatton (about 2 hours).

Considered one of the most scenic railway routes in Asia, the route crosses the mountains of the tea country, passing through extensive plantations, mist-shrouded peaks and waterfalls, in addition to providing contact with the local daily life. The historic Sri Lanka Railways network opened in 1864 during the British colonial period.

Private transfer to the hotel and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.


Day 9: HATTON
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a regular visit to a plantation and tea factory, with introduction to the cultivation, harvest and production process of the famous Ceylon tea.

The rest of the day is free for independent activities.


Day 10: HATTON - GALLE
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure by private transfer to Galle (about 4 hours).

Arrival and accommodation for 3 nights, with breakfast. The rest of the day is free for independent activities.


Day 11: GALLE
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit a local family in Galle, with a Sinhalese cooking class experience combined with a visit to the market. By tuk-tuk, drive to the city to buy fresh ingredients, followed by the preparation of typical dishes with the hosts and lunch with the family.

In the afternoon, tour Galle Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) aboard a classic convertible. Then, visit local fruit and vegetable markets, the Galle International Stadium and the traditional fish market, where you can observe the arrival of the boats and the day's fishing trade.

At the end of the tour, return to the hotel.


Day 12: GALLE
Breakfast and free day for independent activities.


Day 13: GALLE - COLOMBO
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure by private transfer to Colombo (about 2 hours).

In the afternoon, private tour of Sri Lanka's commercial capital alongside a local host, with trips by tuk-tuk. Visit to Independence Square, Gangaramaya Temple, and Sri Ponnambala Vanneswarar Hindu Temple, highlighting the city's religious and architectural heritage.

Continue through the Pettah mercantile region, passing through the iconic Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, made of red and white bricks, and ending at a viewpoint with a panoramic view of Colombo.

Return to the hotel at the end of the day.


Day 14: COLOMBO
Breakfast, hotel check-out and private transfer to Colombo airport.
