When is the best time to visit Denmark?

Denmark is a destination that can be visited all year round, with four distinct seasons. Cultural events are scattered throughout the year, with activities to warm up in winter and cool off in summer.

The summers are hot and it usually welcomes visitors who want to take advantage of the long nights. In June, the sun does not set before 10 o'clock in the evening. With classes coming back in August, the end of this month is a great time to visit, with good weather and fewer crowds.

Although the days are shorter in winter, the country is often covered with snow, so there are plenty of opportunities for winter activities. Some attractions and services, such as Tivoli Gardens, are closed from mid-September to mid-April, reopening for a short period at Christmas and Halloween.

Weather in Denmark

The Danish climate is moderated by the warm Gulf Stream and is therefore milder than its Scandinavian neighbors. Denmark has four distinct seasons. The spring months (April to May) are the mildest, while the summer months (June, July, and August) are the warmest. Fall (September to November) tends to be rainy and more cloudy. Winter lasts from December to March and is normally cold, with ice and snow.

Habitable cities

In Denmark, cities are made for people. People who like to exercise then cycle to work or take their bikes on the train. People who like clean air. People who care about the environment. People who appreciate art and design even when they are utility buildings, such as bridges or bus stops.

Living history

From Vikings to modern princesses, Denmark has a rich and colorful history, as well as the oldest monarchy in the world. You can trace the steps of princesses and visit Viking battlegrounds all in one trip. For even more fairytale charm, plan a visit to the city of Odense to immerse yourself in the fairytale world of Hans Christian Andersen.

Round Tower

Rundetaarn, or Round Tower, is a 17th-century tower and observatory and the oldest operating observatory in Europe. When Christian IV built the tower, Denmark became famous for its astronomical achievements thanks to the astronomer Tycho Brahe. The observatory is surrounded by an outdoor platform from which you have a beautiful view of the old part of Copenhagen.
