Off the coast of Tanzania is Zanzibar, a paradisiacal island, romantic by nature, that remains wonderfully preserved. Ruaha National Park is the largest in Tanzania; it is home to more than 400 species of birds, including hornbills and sandpipers, as well as migratory birds such as the white stork. Ruaha has a significant population of elephants that can be found along the Great Ruaha River. Venture across the beautiful plains of Serengeti National Park, where the great annual migration of more than 1.5 million bearded wildebeests and 250,000 zebras occurs.

• The city displays the many influences of its history. There's an Asian district with shops, restaurants, and temples, and reminders of German colonization that left behind a Bavarian-style train station, St. Joseph's Cathedral Catholic Church, and Azania Front Lutheran Church. The Botanical Gardens and the Gymkhana Club are evidence of British occupation.

Mwanza

• Located on the southern shore of Lake Victoria in the northwest of the country, Tanzania's second largest city is the perfect base for visiting nearby Rubondo National Park, Saanane Island, and the Bujora Sukuma and Nyerere museums. It also offers easy access to the Serengeti, with Western Grumeti just two and a half hours' drive away. Other attractions include river cruises, canoeing safaris, and fishing.
• Mwanza is also known as the City of the Rock because of the gigantic rock outcrops that protrude from the lake and spread around the city. The most famous of these are the Bismarck Rocks - a tribute to the German Chancellor - under which this originally small city was established as the administrative center of German East Africa.

Zanzibar

• The main island, Unguja, and its sister island, Pemba, have attracted sailors and adventurers from around the world for centuries. He now congratulates a new generation of explorers who have come to marvel at the rich heritage, reflected in the architecture and culture of the people.
• Visit the historic stone city of Zanzibar - another of Tanzania's seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Relax on the stunning white of its palm-fringed beaches, where the blue waters of the Indian Ocean attract swimmers, divers, fishermen, and water sports enthusiasts.
• The islands exude fragrant aromas of cloves, vanilla, cardamom and nutmeg, and are called “spice islands”. Explore the forests, with their flora and fauna. Or visit some of the many archaeological sites. Spend a few days on the island before or after a safari in mainland Tanzania or, better yet, spend a week or two immersing yourself in the magic that is Zanzibar.

Ngorongoro

• One of the wonders of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater was declared a World Heritage Site in 1978 and is certainly one of Tanzania's greatest attractions. There, people live in harmony with wildlife, in a fantastic example of structured coexistence and sustainability between the culture of the Masai people and ecotourism. In this area it is possible to find dormant and active volcanoes, high mountains, archaeological treasures, plains, rivers, forests, lakes and quicksand dunes.

• The spectacle of the Great Migration across the Serengeti plains takes place over about 30,000 km² between northern Tanzania and southeastern Kenya. This journey full of dangers, with predators following the immense herd and the risky river crossings amidst crocodiles, is a fascinating experience that can be followed throughout the year.

June to October is the best time to visit Tanzania, as it is the period with the least rainfall. The average temperature during the year is a maximum of 28 °C and a minimum of 18 °C.

The climate in Tanzania is tropical and semiarid, which varies from the coast to the interior, but which has one factor in common: heat and high temperatures almost all year round. On the coast, the climate is milder than in the interior where temperatures can easily exceed 40 °C.
