Lima, Cusco

From the modern energy of Lima to the mystical Machu Picchu and the serenity of Humantay - a 7-day group itinerary through Peruvian culture.
DAY 1: LIMA
Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast.
The Peruvian capital is a modern metropolis steeped in history and has great architectural monuments.
DAY 2: LIMA
After breakfast at the hotel, tour to explore Lima's main attractions. Visit the Larco Museum, in the Pueblo Libre neighborhood, a 16th century viceregal mansion that houses more than 3,000 years of pre-Columbian Peruvian history that currently has the best collection of cult gold and silver jewelry.
Then, visit Casa Aliaga, considered a jewel of colonial and republican architecture. Its environments show us the styles that were in fashion in the 15th and 25th centuries in Lima.
Finally, visit the Plaza de Armas and the examples from the colonial era, in addition to the Lima Cathedral, built in the 16th century. DAY
3: LIMA/CUSCO
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Transfer to Lima airport and board a flight (not included) to Cusco. Accommodation for 4 nights, with breakfast.
In the afternoon, guided tour of the main tourist attractions of Cusco, a city where Inca architecture blends harmoniously with colonial traits. Visit to the Santo Domingo Convent, built on the Inca temple of Coricancha, one of the essential sites dedicated to the cult of the sun.
Next, visit the Plaza de Armas and the ruins of the Qenqo temple and amphitheater. It is believed to be the place where the Incas practiced rituals related to agriculture.
Continuation of visits to the Puka Pukara archaeological complex known as the “red fortress” in Quechua, an ancient Inca military complex.
DAY 4: CUSCO - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Travel by train to Aguas Calientes, on a route with beautiful landscapes. Then, transfer by bus to the entrance gate of the Machu Picchu citadel, known as the “lost city of the Incas”, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that is believed to have served as a sanctuary and resting place for the famous Inca Pachacumtec. Discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911 and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The architectural beauty, natural landscape and enigmatic energy of the citadel enchant visitors.
When exploring Machu Picchu, an opportunity to delve into the origins of the magnificent citadel, in addition to discovering the monuments that made it so renowned.
Return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (without drinks) and return to the hotel in Cusco.
Note: lunch time (included) during the tour may vary depending on the entrance to the citadel.
DAY 5: Cusco
Breakfast and free time for independent activities.
DAY 6: Cusco - Humantay - Cusco
Early in the morning, “breakfast box” style breakfast before leaving the city of Cusco for a full day hike through the Andes Mountains, witnessing the transition of Andean landscapes from the valley to the Humantay Lagoon surrounded by mountains.
This hike covers the archaeological site of Tarawasi, the mountain village of Mollepata and the Soraypampa region (3,850m). From the Soraypampa point, climb for approximately two hours to the Humantay Lagoon (above 4,200 m) considered a spiritually significant place for the local population.
At the Humantay Lagoon, free time to enjoy the landscape and then descend to Soraypampa lasting approximately 1 hour to enjoy a picnic-style lunch.
Return to the hotel in Cusco.
DAY 7: CUSCO
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, transfer to Cusco airport.
THIS ITINERARY INCLUDES:
- Accommodation for 2 nights in Lima, with breakfast;
- Accommodation for 4 nights in Cusco, with breakfast;
- Transportation services during the itinerary as mentioned in the itinerary;
- Tour with bilingual guide (Spanish/English) during the program;
- Round trip ticket to Machu Picchu on the Vistadome train (Peru Rail). Luggage allowed: bag or backpack weighing 5 kg and 157 cm (length + width + height);
- Lunch (without drinks) at a traditional restaurant in Machu Picchu;
- Picnic-style lunch in Soraypampa;
- Travel kit.
