Peru: Adventure & History

Lima, Paracas, Cusco, Aguas Calientes

Explore historic Lima, the enigmatic nature of Paracas, and the grandeur of Machu Picchu.

DAY 1: LIMA
Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.

The Peruvian capital is a modern metropolis steeped in history and has great architectural monuments.

DAY 2: LIMA
Breakfast at the hotel. Half-day private tour with a guide in Portuguese or Spanish (subject to availability and confirmation). The first visit is to the Larco Herrera Museum, located in the Pueblo Libre neighborhood. This museum was built on a pre-Columbian pyramid, which houses more than 3 thousand years of pre-Columbian Peruvian history. It stands out for its impressive selection of gold and silver jewelry.

Then, visit Casa de Aliaga, a 1553 mansion considered a jewel of colonial and republican architecture.

Finally, a visit to the Plaza de Armas and the examples from the colonial era, in addition to the Lima Cathedral.

DAY 3: LIMA - PARACAS
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Travel of about 3 hours and 30 minutes to Pisco Airport, for a flight with a total duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes over the Nazca Lines.

The Nazca Lines are a group of geoglyphs - large drawings made on the ground - located in the Nazca desert, in southern Peru. These are some of the most enigmatic and impressive works left by a pre-Inca culture, dating from approximately 500 BC to 500 AD.

After the tour, transfer to Paracas and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.

Paracas, on the coast of Peru, combines lush nature and ancient heritage. The National Reserve is home to sea lions, dolphins, and birds such as flamingos and atobás. It was the cradle of an ancient civilization, which left enigmatic traces in the desert. A destination that reveals the force of nature and the mysteries of the past.

Suggested optional activities (not included):

  • Lunch at the Hotel Paracas Luxury Collection restaurant (without drinks);
  • Trip to the Paracas desert in buggies, passing through several dunes. During the tour, stop for those who wish to go down the dunes by sandboarding.

DAY 4: PARACAS
Breakfast at the hotel and, early on, departure to the Ballestas Islands, a natural sanctuary and one of the best spots on the Peruvian coast to observe the large concentration of seabirds and sea lions.

During the shared speedboat ride, with a guide in Spanish, there is the opportunity to see the enigmatic Candelabrum, a figure drawn on a sandy hill, whose origin is still uncertain and often associated with the Nazca Lines. As the speedboat approaches the islands, it is possible to spot a rich diversity of birds, such as Peruvian atobás (Sula variegata) and cormorants (Phalacrocorax bougainvillii), as well as sea lions resting on the rocks.

Optional activity suggestion (not included):

  • Private tour to the Paracas National Reserve, an area of impressive landscapes shaped by thousands of years of wind and water erosion. The place is home to a varied fauna and important vestiges of pre-Inca culture that managed to thrive in the middle of the desert.

DAY 5: PARACAS - LIMA
Breakfast at the hotel and free time to take advantage of the hotel's infrastructure.

After check-out, drive about 4 hours to Lima and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.

Optional activity suggestion (not included):

  • Free time for shopping at Larcomar, Lima's best-known shopping mall.
  • Lunch or dinner at the Central restaurant in Lima. A tasting of 13 stages and 32 preparations that covers a diverse and constantly changing Peru: coast, Andes and Amazônia. Each stage explores a distinct ecosystem, connecting ingredients, seasons, and territories.
  • Lunch or dinner at the Maido restaurant, located in Lima, a symbol of the fusion between Japanese and Peruvian cuisine.

DAY 6: LIMA/CUSCO
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel, private transfer to Lima airport and boarding a flight (not included) to Cusco. Accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.

In the afternoon, private guided tour of the main tourist attractions of Cusco, a city where Inca architecture blends harmoniously with colonial traits, accompanied by a guide in Portuguese or Spanish (subject to availability and confirmation).

Visit to the Santo Domingo Convent, built on the Inca temple of Coricancha, one of the essential sites dedicated to the cult of the sun.

Then, visit the Plaza Mayor, the Sacsayhuamán Fortress and the ruins of the Qenqo temple and amphitheater. It is believed to be the place where the Incas practiced rituals related to agriculture.

Continuation of visits to the Puka Pukara archaeological complex, known as the “red fortress” in Quechua, an ancient Inca military complex, and to the archaeological site of Tambomachay, also known as “the baths of the Inca”.

DAY 7: CUSCO - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Travel by train to Aguas Calientes, on a route with beautiful landscapes.

Then, transfer by bus to the entrance gate of the Machu Picchu citadel, known as the “lost city of the Incas”, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that is believed to have served as a sanctuary and resting place for the Inca Pachacumtec. Discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911 and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the architectural beauty, natural landscape, and enigmatic energy of the citadel enchant visitors.

When exploring Machu Picchu, there is the opportunity to delve into the origins of the grand citadel, as well as discovering the monuments that made it so renowned.

After the tour, enjoy an Andean lunch at Café Inkaterra, with a unique view of the Vilcanota River. The restaurant combines Andean cuisine and architecture with contemporary trends.

Bus trip to Aguas Calientes and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.

Free afternoon for independent activities.
