The Azores are an archipelago of nine beautiful islands located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and São Miguel is the largest of them. The island offers a rich culture and history, as well as incredible landscapes!
DAY 1: Ponta Delgada
Arrival in the Azores, on São Miguel Island and private transfer to the hotel in the city of Ponta Delgada. Accommodation for 5 nights, with breakfast.
Ponta Delgada is a modern city that preserves its original character with its narrow streets filled with traditional commerce, markets and shops.
DAY 2: Ponta Delgada
Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning for independent activities.
In the afternoon, private gastronomic tour to explore the secrets and traditions of Portuguese cuisine.
Day 3: PONTA DELGADA - SETE CIDADES - PONTA DELGADA
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Seven Cities, to visit a pineapple plantation with more than 100 years of history, followed by a tasting of pineapple liqueur. The Portuguese discovered the fruit at the time of the colonization of Brazil and brought it to the archipelago.
Then, visit Lagoa do Canário, Lagoa de Santiago and the Vista do Rei viewpoint. Opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view of the two lagoons of Seven Cities.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (without drinks).
In the afternoon, visit to Quinta do Agricultor. It includes a tasting of regional products and a visit to Quinta do Agricultor, which offers the experience to immerse yourself in Azorean culture, interact with animals and plants, as well as experiences such as removing hot bread from the oven that are prepared as in the past.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 4: PONTA DELGADA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit the beautiful coastal city of Vila Franca do Campo, the island's first governmental city in the 15th century. Opportunity to taste the traditional 'queijadas', a traditional sweet developed by nuns during the 16th century.
Then, visit Lagoa das Furnas, which contrasts serenity with the bustle of volcanic fumaroles.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant (without drinks) to enjoy a traditional Furnas stew, a meal made in sealed pots using the island's hot springs known as fumaroles.
Finally, visit the oldest tea plantation in Europe since 1883 and a factory to learn about the production process, including tasting green and black tea. The art of growing tea was introduced to the Azores by two Chinese experts in September 1874.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 5: PONTA DELGADA Free
day for independent activities.
DAY 6: PONTA DELGADA
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Private transfer to Ponta Delgada airport.
