Destination South Africa

Renowned for adventure and ecological tourism, South Africa is the ideal choice for those who want intense contact with nature, without giving up sophistication and comfort.
Culture, wildlife and lots of history
A country of many contrasts, South Africa is one of the most exotic destinations to travel to. Known for its adventure and ecological tourism, the country has also proven to be a great place for those seeking nature without losing sophistication and comfort. With approximately 47 million inhabitants, divided into nine provinces, South Africa has more than 20 ethnic groups scattered throughout its territory.
To say that South Africa is a paradise is the plain truth. The country has a fairly extensive coastline, mountains, unique vegetation, subtropical forests and islands.
Touristic spots
Cape Town
With its wonderful beaches, tranquil fishing villages and historic neighborhoods, Cape Town (name in Portuguese) is considered one of the most beautiful in the country.
Located at the southernmost tip of Africa, in the province of Western Cape, the city has a unique mix of culture, modern, refined and dynamic architecture, in addition to its very welcoming people.
Things to do in Cape Town
Trendy beaches such as Camps Bay and Clifton offer a structure of trendy bars and restaurants, ideal for those seeking more excitement. In False Bay the beaches are inviting for diving due to the pleasant sea temperature.
Visit Table Mountain National Park. The mountain is one of the most interesting activities to start your Cape Town experience, but obviously there are several other beautiful landscapes to discover in the park.
Parks like Company's Garden, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and the Green Point Garden are perfect for an outdoor stroll.
Johanesburg
The main economic center of the entire African continent, it is the gateway to South Africa and the largest city in that country. With such grandeur, Johannesburg deserves to be among the favorites of tourists around the world.
Things to do in Johannesburg
The Apartheid Museum is the highlight for those who want to learn more about the country's history. Dedicated to the narrative of the regime of racial segregation, the museum shows visitors newspapers of the time, signs and even a military car.
A Soweto city tour is a way to delve deeper into South African history. I didn't miss visiting Vilakazi Street, the only street in the world where two Nobel Peace Prize winners (Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela) lived, which has a museum in the house where Nelson Mandela lived for 15 years.
Market on Main gastronomic fair, which takes place inside a warehouse and offers everything, paellas, hamburgers, wines and other delights.
Safaris
The famous African Big Five — lions, rhinoceroses, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants — can be spotted in most of South Africa's national parks. In addition to them, the diversity of the savanna is impressive, with species such as zebras, hyenas, giraffes, antelopes and many other animals typical of the continent.
Each park or reserve offers a unique experience, with a greater concentration of certain species in specific regions. For example, the Addo Elephant National Park in the south of the country is known for housing one of the largest elephant populations in South Africa. For those seeking comfort, private reservations such as Shamwari Private Game Reserve, Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, and Phinda Private Game Reserve offer luxurious accommodations and full board, ensuring an exclusive safari experience. Also among the highlights are the Madikwe Game Reserve, the Wilderness National Park and the world-famous Kruger National Park, a global reference in safaris and conservation.
There's no doubt that safaris are an exceptional experience that will remain as a wonderful memory of a visit to South Africa. We always recommend a minimum stay of three nights at the lodges, or combining lodges in different areas, as each one has its own rituals and offers a unique “typical safari day”.
Best time to go to South Africa
The climate is very pleasant in the country, especially since it is very similar to that of Brazil. It is possible to schedule the best season in view of the tours you want to take. Regardless of which period you choose, rest assured that you can make the most of what the country has to offer.
From July to September, wildlife viewing is ideal. At this time, visibility is greater because of the low vegetation, in addition to being the birth season, and consequently there will be many puppies in the jungle. Because of the pleasant temperatures, safari activities can also be carried out in winter, when there is a low season.
The peak seasons are from the beginning of December to the middle of January, also including Easter. During this period, it is preferable to book accommodation in the national parks and on the coast months in advance, since it is the ideal period for the beaches, school holidays shake up the coastal cities.
