18-day New Zealand itinerary: discover the best of the North and South Islands on a trip with natural scenery, outdoor adventures, and contact with Maori culture.

DAY 1: AUCKLAND
Arrival, reception and private transfer to the hotel for accommodation for 3 nights.

Auckland, is located on the North Island of New Zealand. It is the largest city in the country in terms of population, with more than 1.5 million inhabitants and an important economic center. Auckland presents itself as an epicenter of cultural diversity, with notable Maori, European, Asian and Pacific influences.


DAY 2: AUCKLAND Free
day for independent activities.

  • Hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tour that allows you to explore Auckland's main attractions at your own pace, with strategic stops at tourist spots.
  • Regular or private half-day Auckland tour to explore the city's history and main tourist attractions, such as the shopping mall, the University of Auckland campus, Domain Park, the Ponsonby neighborhood with its historic buildings, the Auckland Harbour Bridge, Mount Victoria, and the America's Cup Village.
  • Regular 45-minute guided tour of the All Blacks Experience. Immersive Auckland experience that reveals the history, values, and emotion behind the legendary All Blacks.
  • 90-minute private guided behind-the-scenes tour and main galleries of the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
  • Play on your own at the top of the Sky Tower to experience the SkyWalk experience — a 1h15 walk along the outer ring of New Zealand's tallest building — or SkyJump, a 192-meter jump in a controlled fall at 85 km/h, compared to a movie stunt jump.
  • Private full-day tour of two farms: one dairy farm and one sheep farm. The tour ended with a picnic on a beach. (available between the months of October 2025 and March 2026.
  • Regular full-day Coromandel tour. It includes a photo stop, a panoramic train ride through the native forest on the Driving Creek Railway, a visit to the Hot Water Beach (dependent on the tide), and a walk to the famous Cathedral Cove.
  • 18-minute scenic flight over Auckland and the crater of the dormant Rangitoto volcano.



DAY 3: AUCKLAND - waiheke island - Auckland
Presentation on your own at the Auckland port, for boarding the ferry to Waiheke Island.

Regular full-day tour (about 8 hours) to discover the island, with stops dedicated to local cuisine and wines, always accompanied by informative commentary from the guide.

The first stop is at a boutique winery for a guided wine tasting accompanied by delicacies such as Te Matuku oysters (or another gourmet item, as available) and locally produced honey. Then visit the award-winning Allpress Estate for an olive oil tasting experience and an introduction to the olive oil production process on the island.

In the second winery, the wines are paired with a variety of artisanal products, such as cheeses, fresh herbs and regional delicacies. The tour includes a lunch (without drinks) with seasonal dishes.

The last stop is at The Heke Distillery, to sample artisanal whiskey produced in small batches or simply relax with a glass of local wine in a cozy atmosphere.

At the end of the tour, you can return to Auckland on the next ferry or stay longer on the island, returning to the city on your own.


DAY 4: AUCKLAND - HOBBITON - WAITOMO CAVES - ROTORUA
Early check-in at the hotel and regular full-day tour (about 10 hours) from Auckland to Rotorua.

The tour begins with a guided tour of the Hobbiton movie set, the setting for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. During the tour, the guide presents interesting facts about the filming. In Hobbiton, visits to the 44 Hobbit homes, the County gardens, admission to one of the new Hobbit Holes™ on Bagshot Row, and a stop at the Green Dragon™ Inn with complimentary drinks are included.

After stopping for buffet-style lunch, travel to the Waitomo Caves for a 45-minute guided tour. The highlight is the silent boat ride down the underground river, where thousands of luminous larvae create the effect of a starry sky.

Upon arrival in Rotorua, check in at the hotel for accommodation for 2 nights.


DAY 5: ROTORUA In
the morning, regular half-day tour with a visit to the Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu Volcanic Valley geothermal areas.
In Wai-O-Tapu, the route includes the observation of the Lady Knox geyser, which erupts daily, as well as trails with thermal pools and surface volcanic activity.

At Waimangu, the tour covers the effects of the eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886, with information about geothermal processes, local vegetation, and crater formation. The tour also includes a visit to areas with boiling mud pools.

Free afternoon for independent activities.

Evening tour with a visit to the Maori Te Puia Institute of Arts. Cultural presentation with traditional ceremonies, songs, poi and haka dances, along with geysers. Buffet-style dinner (excluding drinks) is included.


Day 6: ROTORUA/WELLINGTON Private
transfer to the airport and boarding a flight (not included) to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Upon arrival, private transfer to the hotel and accommodation for 3 nights.


Day 7 and day 8: WELLINGTON Free
days for independent activities. Wellington is great for taking things easy.

Suggested optional activities (not included):

  • Wellington Cable Car ride with panoramic views of the city; the starting point is just outside the Flight Centre.
  • Regular tour of approximately 1 hour at the Te Papa Tongarewa museum, focusing on Maori culture, art, and New Zealand history.
  • Private tour of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes walking around the city, discovering its streets filled with arts and crafts, in addition to its heritage area. At the end of the walk, time for tea or coffee at one of the many cafés on the coast.
  • Private half-day tour of the magical world of “Middle Earth”, with a visit to the movie's iconic locations in the city center, the studios of the award-winning Weta Workshop, viewpoint of Mt Victoria, and iconic settings in the neighborhoods of East Wellington.
  • Private full-day tour of Kapiti Coast, a coastal region north of Wellington, with panoramic viewpoints, visit the Ngā Manu Nature Reserve to see tuataras and native birds, plus a break at local coffee before returning to Wellington.



DAY 9: WELLINGTON/QUEENSTOWN - WANAKA
After checking out at the hotel, private transfer to Wellington airport and board a flight (not included) to Queenstown. Arrival and private transfer lasting approximately 1 hour to the hotel in Wanaka. Accommodation for 2 nights.

Wanaka is a city surrounded by mountains, ideal for those seeking contact with nature and outdoor activities. It's a versatile destination, with impressive landscapes and diverse adventure options throughout the year.


DAY 10: WANAKA Regular
walking tour of 2h30 in Wanaka, with an English-speaking guide. Low-difficulty hike that follows the banks of the Clutha River (Mata-Au), on the outskirts of Wanaka. The route includes views of Mount Iron, the Southern Alps, and the Fog Peak Glacier. The walk ends at Lake Wanaka, the fourth largest in New Zealand, which gives rise to the second largest river in the South Island.

Free afternoon for independent activities.

Optional activity suggestion (not included):

  • Regular or private jet boat tour lasting approximately 1 hour. The departure takes place from the Wilkin River Jets base, located about 45 minutes from Wanaka. The route covers two shallow water rivers, surrounded by forests and mountains, providing an experience that combines adventure and contact with nature. Note: This tour is available between the months of October and April.



DAY 11: WANAKA - QUEENSTOWN
Check-in at the hotel in the morning private transfer to Queenstown
and accommodation for 3 nights.

In the evening, international buffet dinner at Skyline Gondola's restaurant, with panoramic views of Queenstown.


DAY 12: QUEENSTOWN Regular full-day
tour with English-speaking driver-guide and picnic-style lunch, with practical items to consume during the tour. The route follows the shores of Lake Wakatipu, crossing the city of Te Anau and Fiordland National Park, with stops at scenic spots along the way, such as glacial valleys, lakes, and native forests.

In Milford Sound, embark on a panoramic cruise of about 1 hour and 45 minutes between fjords and mountains, with views of Mitre Peak, Bowen Falls and the possibility of sighting seals, penguins, and dolphins. The boat tour is carried out in a small vessel, with a guide specialized in nature.

Note: The return to Queenstown can be taken by plane (optional and not included) to save time and be less tiring.


DAY 13: QUEENSTOWN Free
day for independent activities.

Suggested optional activities (not included):

  • Shotover Jet — Jetboat ride: regular ride of approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes by jetboat across the Shotover River, with extreme maneuvers and 360° turns.
  • Regular half-day tour of Queenstown, with stops at viewpoints, Shotover River, and charming Arrowtown. It includes a visit to the world's first commercial bungy jump area, wine tasting with cheese platter, and scenarios from The Lord of the Rings. The tour ends with a 30-minute scenic cruise on Lake Wakatipu.
  • Relaxing 1-hour experience at the Onsen Hot Pools, featuring a private cedar bath (for up to 4 people) and views of the Shotover River canyon. Includes towel, drink, snack and transfer from downtown Queenstown. Ideal for relaxing in the midst of alpine nature, with a comfortable and panoramic structure.
  • Half-day private tour of four boutique wineries in the region, with tasting of wines such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It includes lunch at a renowned restaurant overlooking the vineyards and a visit to the historic village of Old Cromwell. The experience is led by a guide who specializes in wines and local history.
  • Guided 6-7-hour electric bike ride along the trail between Arrowtown and Gibbston, passing suspension bridges, rivers, and vineyards. The route of up to 22 km is adjusted according to the participant's pace and physical condition. The tour ends at Kinross Winery, with free time for lunch and tasting (not included), and return to the hotel in Queenstown.



DAY 14: QUEESNTOWN - MOUNT COOK
Check-out at the hotel. Transfer by bus from Queenstown n to Mount Cook, lasting approximately 5 hours, including a tour of the region's main attractions, such as the Kawaru Gorge Suspension Bridge, Lake Dunstan, Lindis Pass, and Lake Pukaki. Arrival and check-in at the hotel for accommodation for 2 nights.


DAY 15: MOUNT COOK Free
morning for independent activities.

Scenic helicopter flight lasting approximately 35 minutes, with stunning views of New Zealand's highest peak, Mount Cook. The helicopter lands for a few minutes on the glaciers to give you the experience of being among the mountains.

Optional activity suggestion (not included):

  • Regular half-day Tasman Glacier tour, aboard a special boat accompanied by an expert guide. During the tour, it is possible to observe icebergs and the dynamics of the glacier, which is rapidly retreating due to global warming.
  • In the evening, regular tour to observe stars, planets and constellations, with telescopes in a region close to The Hermitage Hotel.



DAY 16: MOUNT COOK - CHRISTCHURCH
Check-out at the hotel and transfer by bus from Mount Cook to Christchurch on a journey of approximately 5 hours.

The route covers landscapes such as the Pukaki and Tekapo lakes, with stops for photos, a visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd and a brief stop in Geraldine, a small and charming city, known for its quiet atmosphere, with local shops, cafes and artisanal products, such as cheeses, jams and chocolates.

Arrival in Christchurch and accommodation for 2 nights.


DAY 17: CHRISTCHURCH
Departure from Christchurch to your train station. Embark on the TranzAlpine for a trip through the Southern Alps, observing the Alpine landscape and Arthur's Pass National Park through the panoramic windows.

Upon arrival at Arthur's Pass, there will be a stop at the Otira Gorge for photos and a visit to the old village. Lunch (without drinks) at a historic restaurant in the region and free time to explore the village and go hiking.

Return to Christchurch.


DAY 18: CHRISTCHURCH
After checking out at the hotel, private transfer to Christchurch airport.
