Explore the best of Iceland on this 8-day itinerary. Look for the Northern Lights, one of the most spectacular natural phenomena seen on Earth, which occurs during the nights of the winter months.
Day 1: KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVÍK
Arrival in Keflavík and regular shuttle bus transfer to the hotel in Reykjavík. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Perched on the coast, Reykjavík is a gateway to Iceland's spectacular natural landscapes, including geysers, mountains, and thermal lagoons. The city is also a center of culture and history, housing numerous museums and galleries.
Day 2: REYKJAVÍK - SNAEFELLSNES - REYKJAVÍK
After breakfast at the hotel, regular full-day tour, with a guide in Spanish, to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, known as “the snowy mountain peninsula”. A mountain range visible along the peninsula, with active and dormant volcanoes.
Tour the Snæfellsjokull National Park, to observe the volcanic craters and, if weather conditions permit, observation of the Snaefellsjokull glacier, the place that inspired Júlio Verne to write his famous work “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.
At the end of the tour, return to the hotel in Reykjavik.
Day 3: REYKJAVÍK - GOLDEN CIRCLE
Breakfast, hotel check-out and regular full-day tour with guide in Spanish. Visit to “The Northern Lights Center” and the Thingvellir National Park, a place of great historical interest in Viking culture and considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Then, travel along the Golden Circle route and go to Gulfoss waterfall, the most famous waterfall in Iceland. Continue to the famous Geysir geothermal area, home to Iceland's most active geyser, Strokkur, which erupts regularly every 5-10 minutes.
Finally, arrival in Laugarvatn to taste warm rye bread served with Icelandic butter and dinner (without drinks).
Continuation to the hotel and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
Day 4: GOLDEN CIRCLE - SOUTH COAST - KIRKJUBAEJARKLAUSTUR
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, travel along the South Coast. Visit the LAVA Center information center, where there is an interactive high-tech and educational exhibition about volcanic activities, earthquakes, and the geological creation of Iceland millions of years ago. Possibility to watch a movie about Icelandic volcanoes at the center's cinema.
Passage through the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, whose water comes from the glacier and the famous Eyjafjallajokull glacier/volcano. Weather permitting, hike behind its 60-meter waterfall.
Finally, visit the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, where there are three basaltic rock formations that stand out from the sea, and Eldhraun, a vast lava field created by an eruption in the 17th century.
Stop for dinner (without drinks) and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Day 5: KIRKJUBAEJARKLAUSTUR - VATNAJÖKULL - JÖKULSÁRLÓN - KIRKJUBAEJARKLAUSTUR After breakfast at the hotel, regular full-day tour with guide in Spanish.
Visit Vatnajökull National Park, the largest national park on the continent and where the glacier of the same name is located.
Continue to the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon and to Diamond Beach or Diamond Beach, a beach with large glowing icebergs that resemble diamonds scattered across black volcanic sand.
Finally, tour the Skaftafell region, which belongs to the Vatnajokull National Park and close to Hvannadalshnukur, the largest mountain in Iceland and one of the largest volcanoes in Europe.
Return to the hotel and dinner (without drinks).
Day 6: KIRKJUBAEJARKLAUSTUR - REYKJANES - BLUE LAGOON - REYKJAVIK Breakfast and check-out at the hotel.
Departure to the Hveragerdi region, known as “the city of greenhouses”, is famous for its geothermal activity.
Continuation to the Reykjanes Peninsula, in the southwest of the country. Characterized by immense lava fields, volcanoes, and geothermal activity, the peninsula runs along the Mid-Atlantic rift where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are receding. Because of this, the entire peninsula is extremely volcanic and is covered with lava fields.
After the visit, an opportunity to visit the famous Blue Lagoon known for its water rich in fuming minerals and soft white silica mud that have healing effects on the skin. Residents and long-time visitors enjoy the benefits of bathing in the Blue Lagoon. Free time for scuba diving or simply relaxing.
At the end of the day, departure to Reykjavik and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Day 7: REYKJAVIK
Breakfast at the hotel and free day for independent activities.
Day 8: REYKJAVIK
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Regular shuttle bus transfer to Keflavik airport.
