Package of 12 days to discover the beautiful landscapes of Iceland during the summer.
Day 1: KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVIK
Arrival in Keflavik and transfer by shuttle bus to the hotel in Reykjavik. Accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
Free time to explore the capital of Iceland on your own, weather permitting.
Note: The guide will be at the hotel upon arrival to assist with check-in.
DAY 2: REYKJAVIK - GOLDEN CIRCLE - STYKKISHOLMUR
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, visit Thingvellir National Park, one of the most important sites in the country's history and with an impressive geology, where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia meet.
Then, pass through the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, known as “the snowy mountain peninsula”. A mountain range is visible along the peninsula, with active and dormant volcanoes. Tour of the Snaefellsnes National Park to observe the volcanic craters, and the opportunity to visit the Vatnshellir cave to descend 35 meters deep and about 200 meters into the lava tube under the Snaefellsjokull glacial volcano.
Continuation to Stykkishólmur and accommodation for 1 night, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 3: STYKKISHOLMUR - BRJANSLAEKUR - ARNARFJORDUR - PATREKSFJORDUR Breakfast and check-out at the hotel.
Take a ferry to Brjanslaekur and, during the journey, depending on weather conditions, you can observe Flatey Island - inhabited only during summer - and the Snaefellsjokull glacier.
Arrival in the western fjords region and passes through the Arnarfjordur fjord to observe its beautiful landscape surrounded by mountains and the Dynjandi waterfall, considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country.
At the end of the tour, accommodation for 2 nights in Patreksfjordur, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 4: PATREKSFJORDUR
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Hnjotur Museum, which exhibits local history focusing on aviation, fishing and the daily lives of coastal communities.
Then, pass by Latrabjarg, the largest seabird cliff in Europe and one of the best places to observe puffins. If weather conditions permit, head out to Raudisandur Beach, known for its red sand that changes its tones depending on the variation of sunlight, water level and climate.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 5: PATREKSFJORDUR -
HVAMMSTANGI Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Departure to Hvammstangi, with a stop to visit the small Erpsstadir farm, known for its production of milk, ice cream and dairy products.
Arrival in Hvammstangi and accommodation for 1 night, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 6: HVAMMSTANGI -
AKUREYRI Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Visit the fishing village of Hvammstangi, considered the seal capital of Iceland, and continue to the rock of Hvitserkur, located in the sea off the region's east coast, inhabited by various species of Nordic birds.
Then, go to the Kolugljufur Gorge, with its famous waterfalls, known as Kolufossar.
Finally, head to Vidimyri to visit one of the last peat churches (a construction technique with grass roofs) in Iceland.
Arrival in Akureyri and accommodation for 2 nights, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 7: AKUREYRI - SIGLUFJORDUR - AKUREYRI
After breakfast at the Akureyri Botanical Garden, boat ride across the Eyjafjordur Fjord, near the Arctic Circle, for whale watching (subject to weather conditions). At the end of the tour, weather permitting, deep sea fishing.
In the afternoon, a tour to observe the fjords and small fishing villages. Visit the city of Siglufjordur, located on the mountainous Trollaskagi Peninsula, and visit the award-winning Herring Era Museum, the largest maritime life museum in Iceland, with a tasting of fish and Brennivin - the local brandy.
Return to the hotel.
DAY 8: AKUREYRI - DETIFOSS - BORGARFJORDUR EYSTRI - ESKIFJORDUR Breakfast and check-out at the hotel.
Travel to the Lake Myvatn area, stopping at the famous Godafoss, known as the waterfall of the gods, which is 12 meters high and 30 meters wide. Walk through Dimmuborgir, the dark castle, with the lava field composed of rocks in its unusual shape, which served as a location for some scenes from “Game of Thrones”. Go to the tephra cone, or Hverfjall ring volcano, exploring its hot springs and the smoky mud pools of Namaskard.
Continue to the Detifoss waterfall, considered the most powerful in Europe, north of the Vatnajokull National Park.
Finally, visit the Vok Baths, a floating geothermal pool on Lake Urridavatn.
Arrival in Eskifjordur and accommodation for 1 night, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 9: ESKIFJORDUR - HOFN
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, departure to discover the Petra Stone Collection's collection of rocks and crystals.
Then continue Holf with the possibility of seeing Vatnajokull, the largest glacier in Europe, visible all along the southeastern coast of Iceland.
Accommodation for 1 night in Holf, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 10: HOFN - VATNAJOKULL - SKAFTAFELL - VIK
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, visit the Vatnajokull National Park, the largest national park in Europe and where the glacier of the same name is located.
Stop for an amphibious boat ride through the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon, lasting approximately 45 minutes, and a visit to Diamond Beach or Diamond Beach, a beach with large glowing icebergs that resemble diamonds scattered on black volcanic sand.
Continue to the Skaftafell region, which belongs to the Vatnajokull National Park and close to Hvannadalshnukur, the largest mountain in Iceland and one of the largest volcanoes in Europe.
Finally, walk to Reynisfjara, the dramatic black sand beach.
Accommodation for 1 night in Vik, with half board (excluding drinks).
DAY 11: VIK - SOUTH COAST - GOLDEN CIRCLE - REYKJAVIK
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Visit the Skogarfoss waterfall, with a 60-meter drop and one of the most impressive in the country.
Then, visit the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, whose water comes from the glacier and the famous Eyjafjallajokull glacier/volcano, with a trail behind the 60-meter-high waterfall, where you can take a unique hike, and the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Center, to learn more about the active volcanoes and the country's geology.
Finally, go to a geothermal greenhouse farm to discover tomato plantations in the midst of strong winds and to meet Icelandic horses. Visit the Gullfoss waterfall, the most famous in Iceland, and if weather conditions permit, continue the trip to Geysir, a series of active hot geysers.
Accommodation for 1 night in Reykjavik, with breakfast. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant (no drinks).
DAY 12: REYKJAVIK - KEFLAVIK
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Transfer by shuttle bus to Keflavik airport.
