Discover Tasmania's hidden treasures on this 6-day trip. A combination of nature, history and flavors.
DAY 1: Hobart
Arrival in Hobart and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
Then transfer to the Stockmans restaurant for a welcome dinner. Under the leadership of Executive Chef Sam Wagg, this establishment is renowned for its cuisine and dishes using the best Tasmanian produce.
DAY 2: Hobart
After breakfast, departure from Hobart to the scenic Tasmanian Peninsula and historic Port Arthur. Visit to explore the heritage of Port Arthur, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 and one of Tasmania's greatest attractions.
Port Arthur was a prison intended for repeat offenders and considered one of the most dangerous. It is currently one of the largest open-air museum areas.
This tour includes:
- Visit the Port Arthur Gallery, with interactive exhibitions and exhibitions that tell the history of the place.
- Cruise of about 20 minutes through the port, passing through the Islands of the Dead and Point Puer.
- Self-guided audio experience;
- Access to more than 30 historic buildings, ruins, restored homes, historic gardens, and hiking trails.
In the afternoon, stop at Remarkable Cave, a cave that displays a variety of colors resulting from the presence of minerals and seaweed. This cave has two entrances facing the ocean, which were sculpted by erosion caused by ancient earthquakes. Before proceeding to the next point, stop at the Maingon Bay viewpoint.
Then, guided tour of a local mushroom farm. This farm offers ideal growing conditions for mushroom varieties.
Return to Hobart and dine at the Mures Upper Deck restaurant, an award-winning seafood restaurant.
Day 3: Hobart - Derwent Valley and Mount Field National Park - Hamilton
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, departure from Hobart to the Derwent Valley to Mount Field National Park in a journey of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Mount Field National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Tasmania and also one of the most diverse in terms of ecosystem. Among the park's attractions, Russell Falls, one of Tasmania's most impressive waterfalls, stands out.
Then, barbecue-style lunch, followed by a tour of Curringa Farm, which is dedicated to sheep farming and plantations. Possibility to experience a sheep shearing demonstration, in addition to hiking in the forest and learning about the details of the cultivation and conservation program.
Afternoon free for independent activities and experiencing the tranquility of rural Tasmania.
In the evening, homemade dinner at the farm. Accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
DAY 4: Hamilton - Freycinet
After breakfast and check-out at the farm, visit the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, a social initiative dedicated to environmental and community well-being. During the visit, possibility to get close to animals that became extinct a long time ago in other regions of Australia.
Next, stop in the historic city of Richmond, with historic architecture, wineries with beautiful views, and a mysterious past of convictions. The city is famous for the Richmond Bridge, the oldest highway bridge in the country, and also for Richmond Prison, one of the oldest intact prisons in the region.
In the afternoon, drive approximately 3 hours along Great Eastern Drive, a road on the east coast, with panoramic views of beaches, cliffs, and forests along the way.
Arrival in Freycinet and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast and dinner.
DAY 5: Freycinet - Cradle Mountain
After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, walk about 1.3 km to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, with one of Tasmania's most famous views. Depending on the period of visit, there is an opportunity to observe whales or dolphins.
Then transfer to Elizabeth Town for lunch at the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm Cafe, followed by a visit to the Ashgrove Cheese Factory.
In the afternoon, drive to Cradle Mountain and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
Free time for independent activities. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant.
Suggested optional activities (not included):
- Night tour in Cradle Mountain National Park, to observe Tasmanian nocturnal animals.
- 20 minute helicopter flight over Cradle Mountain.
DAY 6: Cradle Mountain - Sheffield - Launceston
After breakfast, hike lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours in the Cradle Mountain National Park on a 6km trail, covering the shores of Lake Dove, ideal for those who wish to connect with nature and seek moments of contemplation and tranquility.
Check-out at the hotel and transfer to Launceston airport. It includes a lunch stop (not included) in Sheffield, known as the City of Murals.
