Discovering Puglia
Bari, Lecce, Napoli

From Bari to Naples, a 7-day group itinerary ideal for exploring Puglia, through its historic cities.
With the longest coastline of any region in mainland Italy, the Puglia region is larger than people imagine and often overlooked by tourists. However, it is becoming more frequented by those who want to escape the frenetic crowds of better-known regions.
DAY 1: BARI
Arrival in Bari, transfer to the hotel and accommodation for 1 night, with breakfast.
Bari is the capital of Puglia, a region in southern Italy, an area also known as “the heel of Italy” and which developed along a small peninsula, with a large number of squares, palaces, arches, churches and sinuous streets that tell the stories of the city's past, without losing traces of the rich artistic heritage.
In the evening, welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 2: Bari - Ostuni - Lecce
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Free time to visit the historic center of the city.
Around an hour's drive to Ostuni, a hilltop city overlooking the sea, is known as the “White City”, an enchanting example of Mediterranean architecture. Along the way, stop at a Masseria (country house) for lunch and tasting typical Pugliese food.
Continuation of the trip to Lecce and accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
DAY 3: Lecce - Gallipoli - Lecce
After breakfast at the hotel, half-day tour with a local guide to the main tourist attractions of the city, such as the Church of S. Oronzo, the Basilica of the Holy Cross, the Celestini Palace, in addition to the Roman amphitheater dating from the 2nd century BC and the Column of S. Oronzo, 29 meters high. During the tour, stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Then, visit the city of Gallipoli, a fishing town with a Mediterranean seaside charm. Return to the hotel in Lecce.
DAY 4: Lecce - Alberobello - Polignano al Mare - Bari
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Half-day tour to discover the Alberobello region.
The Alberobello region has one of the most iconic monuments in Puglia: the cone-shaped houses, known as trulli. They are houses built stone on stone, without ever using mortar and are found only in this valley.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and drive to Polignano a Mare, known for its Mediterranean landscapes and the villas built on top of the sea cliffs. Tour of the historic center and free time to take photos by the sea.
Continuation of the trip to Bari. Accommodation for 2 nights, with breakfast.
DAY 5: bari - Castel del Monte - trani - bari
After breakfast at the hotel, visit Castel del Monte and its fortress. Built around 1240, Castel del Monte became the permanent seat of the court of Frederico Hohenstaufen, sovereign of the Kingdom of Sicily at the age of three. The monarch was called “Stupor Mundi” because of his vast and complete culture, and he left the mark of the mystery that surrounded his figure on his castle.
Continue to Trani to visit the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas Pelegrino, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Free time for independent activities.
Return to the hotel in Bari.
DAY 6: Bari - Matera - Naples
Breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Travel of about 1 hour to Matera, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Matera is unlike any other city in the country, with its winding streets and rocky caves that fill the mountaintop city.
